Getting to Know Jessica R. Botelho, Esq.
Jessica R. Botelho, Esq. joined the team at HPLC as a partner in early May and we are so glad to have her!
1) What do you like most about what you do and why?
I really enjoy working with people and helping them to achieve their planning goals. Hearing a client tell me how relieved they are to have completed their estate planning provides a sense of accomplishment to both me and the client and it truly brings me joy. I also enjoy the challenge of estate planning in general; no two estate plans are the same and there's always something new to learn. I've practiced solely in the areas of estate planning, trust and estate settlements and elder law since becoming an attorney in 2015 and I can honestly say, I still love coming to work each day because there's always a new and complex problem to solve or a client that needs my help and guidance.
2) What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
When I have free time, I love being outdoors. My husband, Ben, and I can usually be found riding our bikes on the quiet, rural Washington and Saratoga County roads or searching out a less frequented hike in the Adirondacks. On rainy days, I enjoy jigsaw puzzles and working on projects around the house.
3) What book or movie do you most often recommend to friends?
I am constantly recommending The Goldfinch, by Donna Tartt. If you haven't read it yet, go read it! The characters are complex and the story line is captivating. We are big horror movie fans in our house, we loved Get Out and are looking forward to seeing Jordan Peele's new movie, Us.
4) What do you like best about where you live?
I love everything about living in Glens Falls. The people in this community are kind and welcoming and there's always something to do. We are walking distance to everything downtown Glens Falls has to offer and we can access the Warren County Bikeway right off of our street. Everything is convenient and easy to get to, including Saratoga Springs and the Adirondacks. As outdoor people, this is the perfect location for us and we are proud to call it home.
5) What are you most excited about at HPLC?
I am really looking forward to working closely with Megan and getting to know the community in Saratoga Springs. Megan and I have known each other for several years now and I'm confident that our competing strengths will balance each other nicely. Coming from a larger firm environment, I'm also looking forward to the benefits a small practice has to offer.
